Pelvic health is so much more than just Kegels with Doctor of Orthopedic & Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Dr Angela Turnow

Peeing when jumping on a trampoline. Fear of running. Prolapse. Back pain. Separated abdominals. Pelvic floor pain.

While these are common for mothers after having babies, they don’t need to be the reality. Giving birth doesn’t mean we must experience these things. And for those of us who already experience these, they aren’t a life sentence.

In this chat with Doctor of Orthopedic & Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, Dr Angela Turnow, we uncover what we can do to prevent and remediate any challenges.

Dr Angela and I chat about:

  • Why pelvic health is so important
  • The red flags that our pelvic health isn’t as good as it could be
  • How relaxing is just as important as strengthening the pelvic floor
  • The impact that the core and pelvic floor have on our emotional regulation and sense of safety
  • Surprising ways to support the pelvic floor
  • How pelvic health is connected to back pain, jaw pain and plantar fasciitis
  • Why breathing is a useful tool
  • How pooping can prepare you for birth
  • What we can do if our pelvic floor needs some support and care
  • How to support the pelvic floor

Dr Angela is a doctor of orthopedic and pelvic floor physical therapy. As a mom of three, she has firsthand experience with fixing her own prolapse, bladder leaks, back pain and pelvic floor problems. She helps active moms fix pelvic floor problems with movement and drills. She believes the body needs to support the pelvic floor versus blame it. She loves running, competing in triathlons, hiking, and being at their lake with her family.
