Health concerns in newborns: Knowing when to be concerned and when to be reassured with Pediatrician Dr Kristen Weidert

It can be scary when our newborns get sick, have fevers or have difficulty breathing.

It can also be hard to know when we should seek medical health and when we can wait and see.

In this episode of Wild and Well, I am joined by pediatrician Dr Kristen Weidert. We discuss newborn health issues and what do about them. Dr Kristen outlines several potential health issues that can arise in the early days and weeks of a baby’s life and what we need to know about them.

Dr Kristen and I chat about:

  • What health conditions can present during the newborn phase
  • The three tiers of newborn health issues
  • Fevers, difficulty breathing, rashes, vomiting and diarrhea in newborns: what we need to know
  • When to be reassured and when to seek medical support for a newborn’s health condition

Dr Kristin Weidert is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and board-certified pediatrician, mom of two girls, and co-founder of Sage Mother Co. Alongside her best friend from medical school, she launched Sage Mother Co. to address the lack of support she noticed for women in the early stages of motherhood. Kristin is dedicated to helping women navigate the transformative journey of becoming mothers by providing education, resources, and, most importantly, a supportive community through her work with Sage Mother Co.
